The real effect of the mortgage crisis on a real person - Excerpt

This is an excerpt from a post of the same name found at VASS

Looking over the housing markets, and considering the negative sentiment out, I decided that this was a good time to purchase a new home. Rates are 5.875% fixed and many home prices are depressed currently. And I’m not alone in my decision to pick up some property. So I wanted to share my experience so far, and at the end of this post I have 2 questions for you my reader.

Many who have good to excellent credit ratings, and available cash are out looking for a new home or a first time buy. But don’t believe this is exactly a buyers market. Even in a dying economy that is the Binghamton New York experience, home prices have held firm if not risen up. In fact I would say that prices over the last 6 months have risen about $3,000 on median. Because many like myself are entering this troubled market. ...

Kara,

I have said this many times and I will say it again. I will not tolerate advertisements hidden as a comment on my site.

Were your comment actually reflecting the post, and/or relevant to the issue I was speaking about, and the link supporting it I would not have deleted it. But instead it was a blatant attempt to promote a risky loan option.

I do not agree with the short-term loans promoted by Check City (which you linked to) and other organizations. They seek, in my opinion, to target those in financial difficulty and create an environment that is even more troublesome. I feel that such groups are the financial equivalent of vultures, and similar actions make by sub-prime lenders – targeting minorities in particular – led to the current mortgage crisis that has affected the nation.

I cannot envision a scenario that would make organizations like Check City worthwhile, as the long-term effect – as I judge it – is a parasitic action on the borrower. As such I do not advocate, agree with, or wish to see links too such organizations on my site. I would recommend to all my readers to avoid such organizations at all times, no matter the circumstances.

Again I will say to all the spammers, opportunists, and any other group/organization/company that might try to use my blogs as a means of advertising their questionable (or even known) products and services inside a comment: I will not abide it! You comments will be deleted, and I will not find your company favorably. My readers deserve better, and I will go through a good deal of effort to ensure they receive it.
