Bill O'Reilly discusses Oscar Grant...sort of

Some might be wondering about how awful (or moderately bad) the film Notorious is, and with recent news that Lil Kim is upset about her portrayal I'm sure more will go an find out. Because nothing drives money home like a bit of controversy.

But on Friday there was little controversy in what Bill O'Reilly had to say about the Oscar Grant murder. In fact he said little about it at all.

Bill O'Reilly was the first national news commentator to speak about this murder to my knowledge. This was an opportunity to convey the outrage that has occurred. To make a plea for justice, and for it to be enacted swiftly. Instead we got more of the national media ignorance. he spoke about the riots this murder has sparked.

Well after only 13 daysof inaction, Johannes Mehserle has finally been arrested. Considering the fact that it has only taken his resignation to avoid police inquiry, several video tapes of the muder he committed, growing national outrage, multiple protests, and a riot or two, I think the police were quite speedy.

Especially when you consider that the police arrested rioters on the same day the crime was committed. 14 at the last count I heard.

This must be the first step in a process of justice. Because if they think there were riots over the inaction and unconcerned manner with this murder, watch out if Johannes Mehserle get found innocent - with video tape proving otherwise.

But again, it's about damn time he got arrested. What took them so long?

No need for protest. Merely the following statement:

"Mr. District Attorney, I would like to perform a citizen's arrent of the officer. Will you honor this lawful action?"

Hilmi,

I am unfamiliar with the lies you speak of. In fact, as is part of my job, I have found the commentary of Bill O’Reilly to be highly factual.

While I may not enjoy, agree, or promote some of the things he has to say that is not the same as a lie. Or an obfuscation of the truth. This case is one such example.

The focus of Bill O’Reilly has matched that of the national news media, in regard to what has been reported and not the causation of the riots or protests. I continue to feel that the big point is not the damage done, which I don’t condone, but the repeated violence enacted by law enforcement against unarmed Black males.

Most are unaware that on New Year’s Day, at least 3 Black men were all shot at and 2 died by police officers in America. Oscar Grant was shot in the back, as was another man in Dallas. And in New Orleans one man was shot and killed by 12 bullets in the back. That is horrendous. Yet the news media barely mentioned these acts locally let alone nationally. Were it not for the Grant lawsuit and riots, no one across the nation would know about this case.

Thus it is that desire by the national media to cover up these items that causes me the most concern.

God has nothing to do with the acts of Man. And Bill O’Reilly may not be your favorite, but he is far from a demon as well. Such blind hate does nothing to help the causes you may believe in. Just as your commentary does not benefit my cause in this post.

I am not angry. I understand that perhaps what you are trying to convey is lost in the translation to english. But I must defend Bill O’Reilly from the accusations you make, just as I would defend myself. Because Freedom of Speech may allow freedom to hate, but I will not participate in it. That is never my intention.
